Discovering New Gaya House-shaped earthenware from the ruins of Bonghwang-dong in Gimhae

(ҹ 40/ ͺ 0)

An ancient type of earthenware, which is far from known until now, has been found in Gaya's.

The National Research 토토추천 Institute of Gaya's Cultural Heritage said on Tuesday that a house-shaped earthenware, which is believed to be made in the 4th and 5th centuries, was found at the site of the palace in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province.

Most of the earthenware figurines of Gaya were built on pillars and separated from the ground. The earthenware excavated this time was a ground-type earthenware that closely resembled buildings. It is 6 to 7 centimeters long and high.

The earthenware was constructed with a semi-circular wall with a square door open to the front. A pedestal was placed beneath the entrance and a ventilator was made on one side of the wall. The roof is a satchel-shaped cross-roofed roof with a book upside down, but the back is round.

It is similar to what the Three Kingdoms East described as "The house is built with a straw house and a mud hut, and the door is on top of it."

An official from the institute said, "There are about nine pieces of pottery that were excavated from the Gaya site or known as Gaya relics, and the house-shaped earthenware in Bonghwang-dong is unique," adding, "Although the previously known high-end building is presumed to be a warehouse, this earthenware is believed to have shaped the house. As this is the first case that has been confirmed, it will be helpful for the study of life history and construction history of Gaya. Apart from the Seokdong Historic Site in Changwon, Gaya's house-shaped earthenware was found in the ancient tombs of Daho-ri in Changwon and the site of Pogori in Haman.

A new type of iron horse-footrest has also been found. There are no joints at the end of the Three Kingdoms Period where horse-footrests were hung, but the newly discovered ring is connected in a round shape, and the iron core is inserted into the joint to make a difference.
